Derek's Broken Arm

(ER, Splint)
Again it's been awhile since the last update. Instead of one long post I am going to post separately....sorry all!

We will start with Derek's broken arm. Last month Derek decided to play superman @ daycare and give 2 girls a piggy back ride at the same time. He fell and landed on his arm and broke it. When Arlund took him to get the cast on the next week the doc said sorry your going to have to
come back tomorrow and have surgery. They put him to sleep and reset his arm. He now has a cast up his whole arm. He has had fun letting people sign it. It comes off next week! He was suppose to play soccer but only made it to a couple of games. Next year!

Update...

Arlund-just competed in his first grappling tournament. For those like me that are not sure what grappling is, it is like wrestling but instead of having timed rounds or pinning your opponent, you go un-timed until someone gives up basically and taps out. Arlund's first round was 16 min long. He broke his pinky toe, and did a little damage to the skin on his big toe but came out 2nd place in his division! I was not there to cheer him on, but I am very proud of him! This is something he has wanted to do for along time and I am glad he is finally getting a chance to!

Jo Lene-2 months now on the reduced calorie diet! Lost 7 pounds this month! Not as good as the first month but a total of 21 pounds all together! (Not that you can tell really) Still going.....more to lose!!! I am also suppose to be running a 5K in 4 weeks and I am totally not ready so we will see! I have to sign up by April 17th so I better make my mind up quick haha!

Kayden-is doing very well in school. He is in the 3rd grade but is already on a 4th grade reading level. He does very well in Math and so far has received 100% on all his multiplication tests! He is learning to play some chords on the guitar and we are looking into getting him into lessons. He is going to play baseball this summer. They had an edible car race at school and he got his picture taken for the newspaper!

Derek-received his Salem Superstar award and they had a little assembly we got to attend. He is also working really hard to learn his sight words to be able to read and seems to be getting better. Jacey made him a huge poster over his bed so he can practice all the time, he loves it! He got to participate in the Kindy 500 at school. They make fun cars out of cardboard boxes and then race them all over the country (or school gym.) He is so full of energy, he had a double ear infection last week and that never slowed him down! He is going to play soccer this summer!

Brandon-is turning into quite the jabber box. He is also getting to the age where he knows what he wants and will throw a fit till he gets it! He is crawling and has become very fast and gets into everything! He is such a good boy and cracks me up everyday! He also had a double ear infection last week and now has a bad cough! He is probably going to be my tube baby! Hopefully the warm weather will help, (that is if it ever quits snowing!) We have moved him into a foward facing carseat and he is just growing up too fast! He now weighs 23 1/2 pounds!

Here are a few pictures from March, enjoy!

Mirror, Mirror...

Just had to post this cute picture! We have a mirror that is just leaning against the wall in our hall and the other night Brandon kept kissing himself in the mirror! It was really cute! He is such a funny boy!

Losing it...

So......I am losing it, not my mind (somedays I wonder though haha) but weight! I have been on a reduced calorie diet for 1 month now and have lost 14 pounds so far. Somedays are so hard and counting calories can be so tedious but it has been worth it so far! It has really opened my eyes to what I am eating and also how much I drink my calories. I have gone to diet and working on the whole quiting pop all together but one step at a time. I am also trying to run 3 times a week to prepare myself for a 5K run in May. We will see how that goes! Thanks to Waiva for being my motivation! Just wanted to share my good news because I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale this morning, I thought it was wrong! It feels so great!

Crawling...

So Brandon is 9 months now, wow time flies! He is now crawling and tries to pull himself up on everything! He has become quite the handful over the last few weeks! He likes to find papers and tear them apart, he also finds every little thing there is on the floor and tries to eat it. He loves to be anywhere his brothers are and be right in their face. The other day they closed their bedroom door because they were playing and they did not want him to wreck what they were doing. He waited outside the door, hitting it and when the door opened he went as fast as he could to get into their room. His new favorite word is Mama? He actually says Mama, Dada, Ba (which is Ball), Baba (which means Bottle). At least that is what I say he is saying, haha! He also makes us laugh because he is so smart. We can say where is Mom and he looks right at me, where is Kayden and he looks at him. The other day I asked him if he wanted to bounce and he turned around and looked at his jumper and I asked him where the ball is and he crawled to it. It's funny he understands so well. He has become quite the picky eater, he does not like jar baby food, he would rather eat what we are eating and he loves to feed himself. He has also turned into quite the meany! He loves to grab your face, stick his finger up your nose and pull your ear off! He has also become a fan of pulling my hair. So fun! My favorite time with him is when he gets tired, he is quite the cuddle bug and he'll give you kisses. He has always been quite the daddy's boy, but lately when I walk in the room he wants mom, which I don't mind :) This video was taken a few weeks ago. He was trying to race Kayden to something he had put on the floor! Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Today is my Mom's birthday, she is 64 years young (I think) and will probably not like that I posted that! She is beautiful and we love her so much! She is an awesome cook and it's great when the whole family gets together because she always makes such awesome food, especially her lasagna, it's the best!!!! She has always been there for all the grandchildren supporting them in all their many sporting events, which with 23 grandchildren that is a challenge in itself!

We love you Mom/Grandma! Happy Birthday from all of us!

From Left to Right:
Curtis, Lisa, Me, Mom, Dad, Julie, Steve & Logan!!

The decision....

It has been decided that we are keeping the guitar. Kayden is learning to play at school so he has been using it to practice. We might even look into putting him in lessons outside of school. He tries to teach me some of the chords that he is learning but it hurts my fingers, I don't know how he does it! HAHA!!!
